This year we will be based at the Diana Town Hall in Harrisville, New York. The Town of Diana, where Harrisville sits, and the Town of Pitcairn are graciously allowing us to use their roads again.
On Saturday, we will run 12 stages, totaling just over 61 competitive miles. These will include our traditional two dead-end, turn around stages to be run in the dark. We’ll wrap the day up with the awards party, location TBA.
Black River Stages will be run in accordance with the current NASA Rally Rules and count toward the 2006 NASA Eastern States Rally Championship.
Registration and Technical InspectionRally headquarters is at the Diana Town Hall which is located on NY Routes 3 and 812, just North of Harrisville, New York, approximately 30 miles east of Watertown.Registration and Technical Inspection will run from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, October 6th, at the Diana Town Hall. All competitors, service crew and workers must sign a waiver and be issued a wristband. No one will be allowed to service cars who has not signed a waiver and been issued a wristband. These wristbands will also get you and your crew into the awards party. The Official Notice Board will be located at the Diana Town Hall. The mandatory Drivers' meeting will be at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 7th, at the Scenic Overlook. The new-driver Licensing Seminar will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM at the Diana Town Hall. All as-yet unlicensed competitors must attend.
StagesThe event uses roads in Lewis and St. Lawrence counties owned by the towns of Diana and Pitcairn. The counties are located along the western border of the Adirondack Park in northern central New York. The stages consist of graded gravel, dirt and sand based roads that are 1 to 1.5 lanes wide. One road has a paved bridge (less than 100 yards in length). Major intersections will be bannered and marshaled. There will be 12 competitive stages totaling approximately 60 miles. Eight stages will run in daylight; the final four will run in darkness. Timing will be to the hundredth of a minute, lateness penalties accrue at 0.20 minute per minute of lateness.
SweepWe will run both a Safety Sweep and a Heavy Sweep. The Safety Sweep car will depart the start of each stage approximately one minute after the last car and will contain both a Ham radio operator and an Emergency Medical Technician.Behind them will be at least one Heavy Sweep vehicle. Because we use all of the roads twice, if you are unable to continue and are on a road to be used again, crews and their cars will be moved to a safe location.
ServiceBlack River Stages is designed to be an "easy service" event. There will be one central servicing area at the Diana Town Hall. Space is limited and we encourage teams to be considerate. All service crews must sign a waiver and be issued a wristband. No one will be allowed to service a car without signing the waiver. There will be absolutely NO alcohol consumption allowed on the Diana Town Hall property. Our ability to hold the event depends on this being adhered to.
WorkersAs with all events, Black River Stages depends on dozens of volunteers to run smoothly. Workers can sign up online at www.blackriverstages.com and can register at the Diana Town Hall between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Friday. Any Saturday morning registration will be done by appointment only. There will be a Stage Captain and workers' meeting on Friday evening at 8:30 PM at the Diana Town Hall.
Awards and Post Rally PartyA post event party and awards presentation will be held at a location to be determined. Provisional and final scores will be posted at the party while we are treated to a cookout by the hosting club.
