Maine Forest Rally
ROUND FIVE - SCCA PRORALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

July 28-29, 2000

The 2000 Maine Forest Rally will be a Friday/Saturday event counting toward the SCCA ProRally Championship. There will also be two Club rallies; a co-efficient 2 on Friday afternoon and a co-efficient 3 event Saturday run in conjunction with the National; points will be awarded toward the 2000 ClubRally Championship.

The National will consist of 10 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 24 miles, with a total stage length of 107 miles. Friday's Club rally - the Seven Islands ClubRally - will consist of 4 stages of 30 miles; Saturday's Club rally - the Mead ClubRally - will have 6 stages - 76 miles. Most stages will be run once, with some repeated in various configurations. We have shortened the stage mileage to reduce the number of repeated stages. All stages will be run in the daylight. Except for the final "in-town" stage, all stages are run on gravel roads owned by MEAD PAPER CO., INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO. and SEVEN ISLANDS LAND CO. The roads range from medium fast two lane to narrower and twistier 1-1/2 lane; most are of the latter variety.

Friday afternoon will have two routebooks, with common stages, but in different order. This will divide the competitors into two smaller groups and will keep the "train" to a manageable number. Every other car on the starting list will go first to a dead-end 6-mile, 'in and out' stage. Competitors then proceed, via service, to two more stages and a return to Rumford. The other group reverses the running order of the above. Saturday we travel to the Parmachenee Lake area for three stages before returning to Oquossoc for a lunch break. The rally then returns to Parmachenee for one long stage, then service and a final 11 mile gravel stage. After a service/tire change in Oquossoc, the rally returns to Rumford for the traditional in town stage. We then end early in Rumford with an awards/buffet party.

Due to the small amount of hotel space in the Rumford area, competitors are urged to make their reservations early and in fact may find Rumford full already. We suggest Sunday River Ski area (special rate), the Riverview or the Norseman in the town of Bethel, Maine for overflow! There is no official "headquarters" hotel - the town of Rumford is the headquarters. For the information of "veterans", due to the overwhelming entry, registration and scrutineering have been moved to larger locations. Each entry will be responsible for making its own reservations; a listing is enclosed, along with prices.

The LARGEST PRIZE FUND in SCCA ProRally will exceed $7000, with starting/tow money. Trophies will be awarded separately to National and ClubRally entrants and classes. A Rally Car Plate will be included for ALL entries.

The entry fee is $400 for the National; for the Friday ClubRally, the fee is $150; for Saturday's, it's $250; for both, it's $400. To compete in the National plus both Club rallies, the fee is $450. If the National entry is not received by July 14, 2000, add $100. Please indicate on your entry form which rallies you're entering. Canadian funds will be accepted at par from legitimate Canadian competitors. Make checks payable to: New England Region SCCA and mail to: Cat McKeen, Box 2113, So. Burlington, VT 05407.

SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS before the event will only be availaable at our web site (RallyRacingNews.com/Maine); if competitors do not have access to the internet, a 'hardcopy' may be requested from the Registrar.
