TRENTON, NEW JERSEY -- After four years of being one of the most visited event websites in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) ProRally series, the Maine Forest Rally now has it's own domain name. "We all agree it's important to have our own name," said rally organizer John Buffum in a conversation last week with Ed Brennan of EB Tech Services. The Maine Forest Rally website has been on line since June 1997, associated with the Rally Racing News group of websites. During the 2000 Maine Forest Rally, the website had over 50,000 visitors. With the current growth of the sport and the Internet, this year should set new records.
The Maine Forest Rally has been held every year - sometimes winter and summer - since 1991 in Rumford, Maine. For the past two years it has had the highest number of entries in the ProRally Championship, with the 2000 event setting an all-time record of 111 starting cars.
