Performance Rallying Real Roads...Real Cars...Real Fast |
August 2004
Maine Forest Rally:
The 2004 event has been completed and very successfully thanks to all of you who worked in the many jobs that were required. There was a mixture of familiar faces from past years, plus newcomers at their first MFR. I look forward to the old timer returning in 2005 and trust the newcomers enjoyed the event enough to become old timers. JB and I want you to know how much we appreciate your giving a weekend to make the MFR the best event on the circuit. There were some 200 workers present. To those who did not make it, you missed a great event. The 2005 edition of MFR will be 29-30 July. JB and I are already at work to make 2005 even better then 2004.
Great North Woods:
After many months of trying to work out the permission details with the various landowners, time ran out. The land used by GNW involves many different landowners, some of which are new and not familiar with the sport. It takes time to educate them. NER, SCCA is very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. I wish to thank the GNW committee for all the time and effort they put in trying to make it work. The GNW Committee has already started the work necessary to make it happen in 2005.
Black River Stages:
The Black River Stages WILL happen on 25 September. Mark Johnson let me know at MFR he had permission for another landowner so the event will be a C3. Like any organizer he can use workers. If you can help out, let Mark know at mej@mejphoto.com.
Maine Winter:
There is not anything new to report at this time. I am still waiting permission from the landowner. There was some confusion at MFR that Maine Winter would be using the same roads as MFR. That is not true. The location is totally new and involves a single national landowner. The SCCA National office is working with me to bring this landowner in to the SCCA Performance Rally program. I firmly believe once that happens, the local managers will sign on. I will keep you informed
