Sawmill 2003 About Sawmill Blue Mountain Region SCCA


The Sawmill ClubRally, sanctioned by the Blue Mountain Region, SCCA, has been held since 1988 at its present location in Morris, Pennsylvania. The coefficient 2 ClubRally will be conducted in accordance with the 2003 SCCA Performance Rally Rules and count toward the 2003 Northeast Division SCCA ClubRally Championship.

TYPE OF EVENT: The Sawmill ClubRally is a performance rally consisting of 8 stages to be run over closed roads and linked by transit sections with liberal time allowances to make the start of the next stage. All competitive driving will be confined to gravel and dirt stages. The total length of the rally route will be 54 miles, including 30 miles of stages.

HEADQUARTERS: Morris Volunteer Fire Company is located at the intersection of PA State Routes 287 and 414 in Morris, PA 10 miles south of Wellsboro (STPR) and 30 miles north of Route 220 west of Williamsport. Private planes can use either the airfield west of Wellsboro or the Williamsport/Lycoming County Airport. US Air services Williamsport.

ENTRY FEE: for the Sawmill 2003 ClubRally is $295.00. Make checks payable to: Blue Mountain Region, SCCA and mail to: Jon Bogert, 1380 Wilmington Pike, Ste 106, West Chester, PA 19382. Entry fee includes two meal tickets for the awards party. Additional tickets will be available from the Registrar for a nominal fee.

LIMIT ON ENTRY: There will be a 60 car limit. Entries received after we have reached our limit will be placed on a waiting list.

ENTRY ACCEPTANCE: Entries will be accepted as follows: NO Seed 0 or 1 entries will be accepted. OUT OF DIVISION ENTRIES will only be accepted after all IN DIVISION competitors have been placed. All Seed 2-4 entries will be accepted PROVIDED they reach the Registrar by Saturday, April 26, 2003. Seed 2-4 entries received AFTER Saturday, April 26, 2003 will be placed at the BACK of the waiting list and will only be accepted after all other IN DIVISION entries that were received before April 26.

All Seed 5-8 entries that have been received by Saturday, April 26, 2003 will be drawn by lottery. Once 60 cars have been drawn, the remaining Seed 5-8 cars will be placed on the waiting list in the order in which they were drawn. The announcement of the draw will be made available on the website shortly thereafter. Please do not call the Registrar on Saturday to see if you got in.

To make the entry/acceptance process as fair as possible, the following conditions apply:

CANCELLATIONS: You must cancel your entry by Saturday, April 26, 2003 to receive a full refund. Cancellations after that date will be charged a $100 cancellation fee if we are unable to fill your slot from the waiting list.

Drivers in need of co-drivers and co-drivers in need of a ride can call or e-mail Jon/Daphne Bogert with their info and they will try to match you up.

Please attach a separate check as appropriate to EACH application. You can then mail them all to the Registrar in one envelope and we will take care of the processing for you.

In accordance with the current SCCA Performance Rally Rules, both driver and co-driver are required to have the following in order to participate in the ClubRally:

  1. SCCA Membership - $75 Individual. Includes National and Regional dues and subscription to SCCA's Sportscar Magazine. (Application and processing available at event)
  2. (Minimum) SCCA ClubRally License - $75. (Available at event)
  3. Completed Annual Health Questionnaire - required for competition license. (Available at event)
  4. Valid state drivers license. Co-drivers without a valid state drivers license may not drive the vehicle under any circumstances.
  5. Helmet meeting one of the following standards: Snell SA95 or later, British Standard BS 6658-85 Type A/FR, or SFI Foundation SFI 31.1 or SFI 31.2. (Snell "M" rated helmets are NOT acceptable).
  6. Fire retardant driving suit rated a MINIMUM of SFI 3-2A/1. Competitors must wear fire resistant underwear if their suit does not carry a SFI 3-2A/5 rating or higher or is not at least three layers thick. The suit must have the SFI rating patch intact.
  7. Vehicle must be road legal and insured with liability limits of at least $100K/$200K/$50K. Valid proof of these amounts is required. The declarations page of your policy is normally acceptable.
  8. Vehicle Log Book for rally car.
