The event featured a dead-end turnaround run twice in each direction, plus one more stage for a total of just over 20 stage miles. Once again it was just pouring down the rain.

The Dale Beard/Richard Simmons Mazda 323 GTX that won overall, the Divisional 4wd class, and the Northwest Region's Class 1 at Doo Wop 2.

Brian Cooper and Cam Jackson had a productive weekend in the Blue Diamond Autobody Datsun 210. The pair put in a storming drive in Doo Wop 2 to finish second overall and in Class 1, and first in the Over Two Litre Divisional class.

The distinctive turbo Ford Escort Mk II of Ralph Kosmides and Joe Noyes. Ralph, a southern California native, is adapting well to the wet Pacific Northwest Roads and won the regional Class 2 on both Doo Wop 1 and 2.

Bill Nation travelled from Los Angeles to contest the first Doo Wop weekend, and with Northwest expert driver Erik Thompson in the co-driver's seat the pair won the regional Class 3 both days.

DIVISIONAL PRO RALLY
DOO WOP 2
OLYMPIA, WA. 2/19/95

On the Sunday morning of Doo Wop 2 the weather looked somewhat promising as it was only drizzling. That soon changed, however, and by the time the rally started the rain was pouring down again. Doo Wop 2 was a shorter coefficient 1 event that started on the treacherous Alpine road, a dead end stage where the cars had to turn around at the top and come back down for stage two.

The Patersons set the pace in their RX-7 beating out Beson and Bradley by seven seconds. There must have been some "psyching out" going on between the two leaders as they waited at the top for the rest of the cars to finish the stage. For on the way back down they both rolled their cars way off the road within a half mile of each other! This sight must have brought smiles to the faces of Dale Beard and Richard Simmons as they sped by. With their Mazda's misfire cured they had no trouble winning the rest of the stages and the rally overall.

Brian Cooper and Cam Jackson, recently promoted to Class 1 proved they have what it takes to run at the front of the field by finishing second overall and winning the Over 2 liter group. They narrowly beat Dave White and John Elkin who in turn were closely followed by John Sparks and Vern Johnson, winners in the Under 2 liter group.

Ralph Kosmides and Joe Noyes put in another sterling drive in their Ford Escort to finish fifth overall and first in Class 2. Fellow Californian driver Bill Nation adapted to the Washington roads quickly again winning Class 3 but this time jumping up to sixth overall in his flowery RX-7. The Canadian team of Scott and Bob Trinder screamed to second in Class 2 and the Under 2 liter group in their Suzuki Swift. Jeff Call and Brent Dille were just eight seconds behind and finished third in Class 2 and eighth overall in their VW Golf

David LaTourette and Dave Carroll had their hands full in the mighty turbo 4wd VW Bug. With the windshield fogging up and no demister co-driver Dave Carroll had to keep the glass clear with a hand held squeegee in between reading route instructions! Add to that a broken header pipe causing a loss of boost and it was lucky that they finished ninth overall and second in the 4WD group. Janice Damitio and Rob Walden were also lucky to finish. They had a good run going, even finishing second on stage 4, but the alternator in their Toyota Celica Alltrac conked out on the last stage and they had to coast the last quarter-mile across the finish line. Road penalties dropped them further down to second to last ahead of Gary Caffroy and John Arnold who lost a substantial amount of time with an uncharacteristic off on stage two.
