Sports Car Club of America Announces Performance Rally Orientation

Burke, Virginia -- Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Washington, D.C. Region (WDCR) is holding a Performance Rally Orientation Day in Burke, VA on Saturday, 15 July, from 2-6PM. Location will be in the Burke Centre-Hechinger Plaza parking lot, next to the Hopsfrog Tavern, on Burke Centre Parkway. The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) organizes and sanctions three level of performance rallies throughout the United States: RallyCross, ClubRally and ProRally. Each successive level covers a greater racing distance and demands a higher level of vehicle preparation and competitor licensing. Entry-level RallyCross events can be run by anyone with a state drivers license and a car; no special car preparation is required. Performance rallies are flat-out races over several hundred miles of rural roads that are closed to the public for the duration of the race. The driver strives for fastest time under all sorts of road and weather conditions -- snow, ice, mud, dirt, gravel, pavement, day, night, rain and fog -- while the co-driver reads course-following instructions from a routebook.

Several local-area Performance Rally teams will we present with their race cars and service trucks to to talk about this most extreme form of motorsport and to answer questions.
