Bailey and Perry Win Team LeConte Rookie Awards at Cherokee Trails

Knoxville, TN ... The Team LeConte Rookie Driver and Co-Driver Awards were presented to Driver, Randy Bailey, and his Co-Driver, Will Perry, on March 25th following the Cherokee Trails ClubRally. The Team LeConte Rookie Driver and Co-Driver awards were established to recognize the efforts of first time ClubRally entrants and were awarded to the highest placing first time finishers. John K. Shirley, Team LeConte Manager, observed, "Team LeConte's members wanted to help recognize new drivers and co-drivers in the sport. The majority of our team have cut their teeth in the ClubRally series and as a result know how important it is to have those first time efforts rewarded." The award included $50.00 and a trophy for each recipient.

This year's winners of the Team LeConte Rookie Awards are members of the Chattanooga Region; the SCCA sanctioning region for the Cherokee Trails ClubRally race. During the pre-race planning sessions, Randy Bailey and Will Perry became so enthused about ClubRally racing that they decided to convert Randy's IT prepared 1985 Toyota MR2 into a rally car. Their enthusiastic efforts paid off because not only were Bailey and Perry the highest rookie finishers at Cherokee Trails, they placed first in the highly competitive Group 2 Class and 7th overall. Bailey and Perry indicated that they will be competing in more SCCA ClubRally races this year and have certainly proven that they will be competitive in the series.

The Cherokee Trails ClubRally was held in the Ocoee/Hiwassee District of the Cherokee National Forest near Cleveland, TN on March 25, 2000. It was a coefficient 2, Southeast Division ClubRally race composed of 54 stage miles. More information and results are located at http://www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/clubrally-ct00.htm.
