location.

All attending Press & VIPs must be Credentialed prior to leaving for the

working practice stage for the entrants.  Rides for the press are not
guaranteed, and will be handled purely on a request basis with drivers
that have completed testing.

Selected entries  (driver/co-driver):

2000 Gr N Drivers Champion, and current Gr N points leader Karl Scheible,
with Brian Maxwell, 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX.

2000 Overall Manufacturer, Driver & Co-Driver Champions Paul Choiniere
and Jeff Becker; Open Class 2000 Hyundai Tiburon

2001 Overall Driver and Co-Driver, Manufacturers Points leaders Mark
Lovell and Steve Turvey, 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX

4-time 2001 podium finishers Seamus Burke and Frank Cunningham, 2000
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI

Canadian Performance Rally stars Frank and Dan Sprongl, 1992 Audi quattro
S2

UK National Group N rally star Jeremy Easson with Mark Williams, 1997
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV

Additional news interest:
The overall victory of Mark Lovell's all new 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX at
Rim of the World over the heavily favored Hyundai Tiburons dropped Hyundai to
2nd place in the Manufacturers Championship for the first time in that
company's five-year SCCA ProRally Championship legacy.  Mitsubishi is a very close
3rd place, but is attacking this event with only one front-runner - but a
good one - in Seamus Burke. Both Richard Tuthill and Rhys Millen are sitting
this event out, but are expected at July's Maine Forest.

Dust will, as is virtually always the case at STPR, be a huge factor in
the outcome of the event, particularly in the events opening two stages.
Historically, the top finisher of those two stages goes on to win the
event.

The famous and spectator friendly Water Crossing and the end of Special
Stage 1 has also played a role in determining a number of rallyist's
fortunes at this event.

While the STPR event is geologically different in every way from last
months Rim of the World, with fast, smooth and well-groomed roads, the event
does, non-the-less, also have a history of high attrition. With the
Manufacturers and Drivers overall points competition the most fierce in over a decade,
expect absolutely flat-out driving throughout this entire event.

Event Rank:
This rally is a full points SCCA ProRally Championship event. Drivers
earn points towards the national championship, and supporting manufacturers
(Hyundai, Subaru and Mitsubishi) earn points towards overall and class
MFG Championships.

Press & VIP Credentials:
Event Press/Photo and VIP credentials will be available at registration
on Friday afternoon only. Access to press-only photo areas will require a
Press Pass. Credentials are available only to members of the working press.

Identification is required. Minors are not eligible for Press or VIP credentials.

Visuals, Interviews & Media information:
During the event, action photography and video will be possible from
spectator and press-only viewing areas along the rally course. Drivers,
co-drivers and crew will be accessible throughout the event, including
the practice stage, the Friday evening welcome party, and the Saturday
morning

Parc Expose.
Due to the very large geographic footprint of this event, Media Relations
will only be able to provide event results and other information via
e-mail.

The press room phone number will be available on event day.

Start Order & Late Breaking News:
SCCA® ProRally Championship Round 5
Susquehannock Trail

Wellsboro, PA A record ninety performance rally cars from across North
America are entered in the 25th consecutive running of the Susquehannock
Trail SCCA ProRally Championship event. All three Championship
manufacturers
(Hyundai, Subaru and Mitsubishi) are represented, featuring four of the
hugely successful 5-time champion Hyundais, 10 Mitsubishi Lancers Evos,
and a large grouping (14) of Subaru Imprezas, in both FIA Group N and SCCA
specification Open categories.

The one-day event will be held on Pennsylvania state forest roads in the
area south and west of Wellsboro. The Rally starts Saturday morning, 02 June
at 10:30 AM EST, following a one-hour Parc Expose of all the performance
rally cars entered.

Selected late entries, news:
Riding a high from their commanding finishes at Rim of the World, where
Subaru not only debuted two all new cars, but also captured the points
leads in both Overall Manufacturers and the Drivers Championship, Subaru Rally
Team USA overnight has become the team to beat.

Five-time SCCA ProRally Manufacturer Champion Hyundai, for the first
time in their SCCA history not leading in the points, is fighting back, with
the largest fleet of cars the company has ever entered in a ProRally
Championship event. Noel Lawler's Tiburon, completely rebuilt after his huge shunt at
Oregon Trail in April is back. Paul Choiniere's remarkable come from
behind 4th place finish at Rim of the World showed true grit and determination,
and the team's miserable weekend at STPR last year clearly has the legendary
Libra Racing crew motivated to finish well this year. Privateer Malachy
Crawford will be piloting the team's evergreen Elantra, and veteran Tim
O'Neill will be wheeling the company's Production class Tiburon, as
Hyundai not only seeks to regain its lead overall points position, but also
attempts to sweeten the deal with a Production class win.

With both Rhys Millen and Richard Tuthill in absentia, a first glance
at the entry list gives the impression that Mitsubishi's house is
significantly diminished. However, the astonishingly quick and reliable independent
team of Seamus Burke and Frank Cunningham, coupled with the surprise last
minute switch of longtime Canadian Audi specialists Frank and Dan Spongl to the
Mitsubishi brand, and the debut of UK Group N points leader Jeremy Easson
hardly leave the company without players.

The international FIA Group N category continues to grow and thrive,
with STPR marking the first time in US competition that there will be a
'break-out' of Group N into two classes - Group 'N3' features two-wheel
drive, normally aspirated cars, and features the very unique in the US
Vauxhall Astra of Padraig Purcell and two new Ford Focuses.

As was the case last year, torrential late spring rains that much of
the north eastern portions of the USA have been receiving over then past week
are playing havoc with team event strategies. While some stages will no
doubt be dusty, giving advantage to the leader, others are expected to be slick
and dust free, keeping the rest of the pack in the hunt. Last years' famous
'water crossing' at the end of SS1 was cancelled due to high water, but
it appears that this year the stage will happen, as the water level is
'right at' the go/no go threshold, and the forecast for the next 36 hours has
only overcast skies and light rain predicted.

SCCA ProRally Championship - Round #5 - Susquehannock Trail
Lovell/Subaru Takes 3rd Overall Win, Burke Steps Up

Wellsboro, PA The 25th consecutive SCCA Susquehannock Trail ProRally
came to an exciting conclusion in the early hours of Sunday morning, with 51
hardy teams making it to the finish of what may be the most fiercely
competitive rally in the US championship. Changeable weather provided a great
challenge into the evening stages, and the famous water crossing thrilled, and
soaked, plenty of rally fans that packed the Pennsylvania woods in record
numbers.

Key Note;
For the first time in the quarter century history of the Susquehannock
Rally, every car entered made it across the finish line in the middle of
the water crossing at the conclusion of SS1. There were, however, a few that
didn't make it much farther, but none-the-less, the new record stands.
And at 90 cars - by far the largest field ever assembled at STPR, and the
largest national ProRally field in the history of the sport in the USA, it
remains an astonishing achievement.

Seamus Burke and Frank Cunningham had yet another amazing weekend, and
broke their 'always third' podium streak in the best way possible,
finishing 2nd to Mark Lovell.
Burke and Cunningham are the only drivers to have
sprayed the Champagne at every SCCA ProRally Championship event this
year, and are showing absolutely no signs of changing this most rewarding
habit.

This year's STPR set a blistering pace from the start. Seamus Burke
kicked things off by breaking the SS1 record set by US rally legend John
Buffum in 1997 by nearly 3 seconds. Mark Lovell ripped through the
existing course record for SS5 by over a minute, and the SS6 record by nearly 30
seconds. Records for most stages, both overall and per class, fell
regularly throughout the day, and participants and fans were keen to the action.

The perfect rallying weather - damp dust free roads with tremendous
traction and virtually zero dust combined with cool, friendly to
turbochargers temperatures, didn't last forever. By SS8 the rains that
swamped much of the northeast US for the preceding several weeks
returned, turning the tacky, grippy clay into a slick surface that tripped up
plenty of veteran drivers. Attrition was high for the next several stages,
decimating the Group 5 (high horsepower, 2 wheel drive) category and the conditions
demanded maximum concentration from all just to stay on the road.
Last years' gremlins came back to haunt the Hyundai team, with Noel
Lawler receiving his 5th DNF in as many events with his freshly rebuilt
Tiburon springing an oil leak and briefly catching fire underhood. The
head gasket on Paul Choinere's Tiburon started leaking early on, with the
resultant overheating finally sidelining the 2000 season champion for
good on the transit to SS8. Malachy Crawford, a virtual unknown here in the US,
drove a well-paced rally for Hyundai in the team's freshly repainted
Elantra, until the transmission gave up all its gears but one with two stages to
go. With the companies Overall and Open class points on the line, the
resourceful Crawford found a gear that would work (4th) and stuck with it through the
end, giving up tremendous road position, but earning the company it's
much needed points.

Tim O'Neil, with Italian journalist Georgio Cerboncini co-driving, had a
great ride in Hyundai's Production class car, finishing 3rd in the hotly
contested class - the largest in years. California's Tony Chavez/Doug
Robinson captured overall honors in P, with the ex-Karl Scheible 1999 VW
New Beetle, star of the famous "cute car" TV commercial, now renamed the
"Stud-Bug," of Michael Halley in 2nd.
The close Manufacturers points race has become just that much more-so,
with the unofficial standings indicating Subaru extending its overall
lead; 87 points to Hyundai's 76, with Mitsubishi closing at 72. In the Open
class, Hyundai, by virtue of Malachy Crawford's hard-fought finish, maintains a
single digit lead over Subaru, with Mitsubishi just 3 points behind
Subaru. In the Gr N manufacturers points, Subaru maintains its lead over its
global challenger Mitsubishi, 100 to 60.
Lovell's win now places him in a substantial overall lead in the Driver's
Championship, with an unofficial tally showing the Briton at 85 points,
Burke at 73, and Scheible at 50, surpassing Richard Tuthill for 3rd place
mid-season honors.
