Biography Greg Healey

Saugerties, New York

Driver, GPH Competition

National Experience (ProRally) - I spent 10 seasons running a Rallytruck in either the Rallytruck Class or Production Class. We won the Truck Class at a few events, and last year co-driver John McLeod and I kept Jay Kowalik on his toes in Production Class, but ultimately finished second to him at both STPR and Summer Maine. On the Divisional level (ClubRally), I won O2 Driver in SEDiv in '95 and John and I were the winning NEDiv O2 team in '96.

This season we'll be debuting a new PGT car in the form of a 1997 2.2L Subaru Impreza Coupe at Maine, and will only have the opportunity to compete in a few events. For the 2000 season we hope to win PGT at both the Pro and Club levels at various events, as well as top NEDiv PGT team. Keep an eye on the results sheets!

I grew up in upstate New York in a little town situated about halfway between Albany and Saratoga. I joined the Navy after high school ('77). I read about rallying in the old-style Autoweeks I would borrow from a shipmate. When I got out in '83, I found employment in the Southeast corner of Pennsylvania. That spring I went to spectate my first event, STPR! What an experience!! I joined SCCA that fall and, lucky for me, fell in with that Rally-crazed crowd in the Blue Mountain Region. After a few TSD's, I built my first Pro car and started my competition career.

I moved to South Carolina in 1990 and, after meeting Jim Kloosterman, started organizing a few events, the Sand Hills rallys. In '96 Sue and I relocated to Saugerties, New York so we can both be closer to our families. This move allowed me to continue to give something back to the rally community, as I've been able to be an instructor at RallyRight School, and also co-organize the Black River Stages events with Keith Kreisler. I am also currently the Assistant NEDiv Rally Steward.

Besides Sue and rallying, I spend my time playing volleyball and mountain biking, and of course working around our house.
