Rocket Rally Racing Grabs Fourth Consecutive Production GT Win
Hopes to Extend Championship Lead This Weekend

VANCOUVER, BC -- Rocket Rally Racing took first place in Production GT at last weekend's Bighorn Rally in Edson, Alberta and came sixth overall. This was the team's fourth win out of four events in Canada and the United States this year. The win increased the team's class lead in the 2000 Subaru Canadian Rally Championship and in the North American Rally Cup. The win also scored valuable manufacturer's points for Subaru in the Manufacturers Championship.

The team, supported by Specialty Subaru of North Vancouver, Drummond Motor Sport and Dragon Eyewear, ran a very clean race. Patrick Richard, Rocket Rally driver, called it the best performance of his young rallying career. On the first stage the team made a navigational error and ended up 30 seconds behind the entire rally. "I wanted to get those seconds back and I knew that the best time to do it was at the beginning of the rally, before any battles broke out," said Richard.

By the first major service stop at Stage 8, the team had one-and-a-half minutes on the nearest Production GT car. "It was a great feeling. We pushed hard, came from behind and pulled out an early lead, and then consolidated our position. We drove a mature race as the fastest team outside of the open class," said Ian McCurdy, Rocket Rally Navigator.

The Bighorn Rally will be televised several times on TSN and RDS, starting June 10.

Looking to Repeat the Performance This Weekend --
Rocket Rally Racing is heading back to Alberta this weekend for the Rocky Mountain Rally, near Calgary. The team hopes to do well, although it expects stiff competition from the local Albertan teams. In between events, the Rocket Rally car is being stored at Subaru of Calgary, which graciously offered to keep the car safe. The Rocket Rally car will be available for public viewing at Calgary's Stephen Avenue Mall on May 25 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.

Television media note: The satellite uplink from the Rocky Mountain Rally will be available on Anik E1, transponder K5 on May 27 from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. PST.
