Rocket Rally Racing Going Back to Voyageurs
Team Moves from Novice to Top Seed in Just One Year

Vancouver, BC -- B.C.-based Rocket Rally Racing will be tearing up the dirt and gravel back roads near Parry Sound, Ontario this weekend for Rally of the Voyageurs. This event is the sixth of eight National events in the Subaru Canadian Rally Championship. A year ago, this event was the first that Rocket Rally Racing raced at the National level. And what a year's it's been. The team members ran the event as fresh-faced novices last year; this time around, they'll drive it as leaders in their class.

Rocket Rally Racing will enter this race with a coveted "Seed 1" status, reserved for drivers who have had top finishes in North American performance rallies. The team's class win at the SCCA Wild West ProRally in mid-September helped the team earn enough points to reach the Seed 1 level in the United States, which means it will start the event right behind the FIA-seeded drivers.

"I don't think this has ever been done before. Getting from nowhere, complete novice, to Seed 1 in exactly one year of competition is pretty unheard of. We can hardly believe it ourselves," says Patrick Richard, Rocket Rally Driver. The team leads its class in the SCCA ProRally Championship, the Subaru Canadian Rally Championship and the North American Rally Cup.

But while team members have become seasoned rallyists, they haven't lost the enthusiasm that fuels them. "We're really excited about heading back to Voyageurs. We're anxious to put the knowledge we've gained this last year to the test and really see just how hard we can push things," says Ian McCurdy, Rocket Rally Navigator.

Rally of the Voyageurs will be aired nationally on TSN and RDS several times, beginning October 14 at 11:30 a.m. (Eastern).

Rocket Rally Racing is sponsored by Specialty Subaru of North Vancouver, DMS Shock Absorbers, SPD Tuning Service and Dragon Eyewear.
