3 Stooges Racing Gears Up for their Home Event

SHILLINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA -- This Saturday, June 2nd, 3 Stooges Racing will compete in their home state event, the Susquehannock Trail ProRally (STPR). Last year's event, which is centered in Wellsboro, PA marked the ProRally debut of the team and their Steve Moyer Subaru, KAM Specialties sponsored 1996 Subaru Impreza.

Last year the team just missed out on the podium, finishing fourth in class. But with a year of experience, a new set of sneakers (a.k.a. tires), and hot off a pair of third places overall at the Cherokee Trails International Rally ClubRallies the team is hoping to step up a place or two. "We took it easy last year, but not anymore," said owner/driver Don Kennedy. "I'm really getting comfortable with the car and what its limits are, especially in the corners."

Navigator Matt Kennedy added that "by the end of the rallies in Tennessee we were flying. In fact, if it weren't for the flat tire two miles from the end of the last stage, we would have finished second overall." Although Matt has competed in numerous TSD Rallies, RallyCrosses, Hillclimbs, and ClubRallies, this is his first ProRally. "This rally is very special to me; it was my first rally experience when I was younger. I was hooked from the start and I haven't missed one since 1989."

"This is a very unique event" stated crew chief Keith Kennedy. "The first stage finishes in the middle of a ten inch creek, it starts at about nine in the morning, and runs until about four the next morning." In addition to the long schedule, this event boasts some of the smoothest and fastest rally roads around, making it a grueling event that tests every aspect of man and machine.

One of the favorite attractions of STPR is the "Park Expose" held around "The Green" in the center of town. Two times during the event the rally cars line the streets of downtown Wellsboro, giving spectators a chance to look at them and talk with the rally teams. Main street is also the site for two ceremonial starts, where the teams head out into the woods for the real flat out racing part of rallying.

The event kicks off with the first "Park Expose" in downtown Wellsboro at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, followed by the first ceremonial start at 10:30 A.M. The cars return for the second "Park Expose" at about 2:20 P.M., before beginning the second ceremonial start at about 4:30 P.M. You can find out more information about spectating (in the woods) and pick up an official program at "The Green" that day.

You can also find out more information and follow all of the action at the event's official web site: www.STPR.org . Or check out Rally Racing News for event updates and other rally information (www.RallyRacingNews.com) After the event you can see photographs and read about 3 Stooges Racing's exploits by checking their site: www.3StoogesRacing.com
