Hairpin Racing to Compete in Ojibwe Forests ProRally

Portland, OR -- . Driver Lee Shadbolt and co-driver Claire Chizma will compete in the Ojibwe Forests ProRally on August 27 and 28. The Hairpin Racing Subaru Impreza will be on public display after August 16 at Morrie's Subaru in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This marks the third year that Morrie's and Hairpin Racing have partnered to compete in this event.

"Even before we had the Impreza, we had Morrie's as a technical consultant", commented driver Lee Shadbolt. Morrie's, the most recognized Subaru dealership in the US, is represented worldwide by their website www.subaru.net. The information provided there was sufficient to convince Hairpin Racing to purchase a Subaru Impreza Brighton Coupe in 1996. That car marked the debut of an Impreza in the Michelin / SCCA ProRally Series.

Hairpin Racing competes in the Production GT (PGT) class where cars remain primarily stock with only safety and suspension modifications allowed. Shadbolt is currently third in the 1999 season PGT driver's championship, while Chizma is in second place in the PGT co-driver's championship. Three events remain in the season, two of which will be entered by Hairpin Racing.

The next round of the Michelin / SCCA ProRally Championship is the Ojibwe Forests ProRally on August 27 and 28. Headquartered in Bemidji, MN, all of the top ProRally teams are expected to compete on what has been traditionally a dusty but fast rally. Hairpin Racing looks to improve on their fifth place finish in PGT in last year's event.
