Maine Forest Rally
ROUND SIX - MICHELIN SCCA PRO RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

July 30-31, 1999

The 1999 Maine Forest Rally will be a Friday/Saturday event counting toward the Michelin/SCCA ProRally Championship. There will also be a ClubRally co-efficient 3 event Saturday run in conjunction with the National; points will be awarded toward the 1999 ClubRally Championship.

The National will consist of 12 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 24 miles, with a total stage length of 127 miles. Saturday's ClubRally will have 6 stages - 72 miles. Most stages will be run twice, some in the same direction, most in opposite directions. We have rearranged the route to incorporate some stages not used before in summer; also we will run two stages during the dark on Friday. All the gravel stages are on roads owned by MEAD PAPER CO., INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO. and SEVEN ISLANDS LAND CO. The roads range from medium fast two lane to narrower and twistier 1-1/2 lane; most are of the latter variety.

Friday afternoon will commence with a 6 mile 'in and out' stage. Competitors then proceed to two runnings of a gravel stage, via service, and then onto a long dead-end stage at night, again via service. Saturday we travel to the Parmachenee Lake area for two stages before returning to Oquossoc for a lunch break. The entire rally then returns to Parmachenee for two more stages; we have shortened these slightly, but avoided any dead-end. The rally then returns to Rumford for the traditional in town stages. This year we will allow tire changes after the gravel stages. We then end early in Rumford with an awards/pizza party.

Due to the small amount of hotel space in the Rumford area, competitors are urged to make their reservations early and in fact may find Rumford full already. We suggest Sunday River Ski area or the town of Bethel, Maine for overflow! The Madison Hotel is headquarters - first come-first served. Each entry will be responsible for making its own reservations; a listing is enclosed, along with prices.

Being cognizant of the rooming problem, we have ended Friday night's rallying at the end of the last stage so that those staying in Sunday River/Bethel can have a shorter drive home.

The LARGEST PRIZE FUND in SCCA ProRally will exceed $5000. Trophies will be awarded separately to National and ClubRally entrants and classes. Two Rally Car Plates will be included for ALL entries.

The entry fee is $400 for the National; for the ClubRally, the fee is $250. To compete in the National plus the ClubRally, the fee is $450. If the National entry is not received by July 15, 1999, add $50. Canadian funds will be accepted at par from legitimate Canadian competitors. Make checks payable to: New England Region and mail to: Cat McKeen, PO Box 6, Grand Isle, VT 05458

There will be a self-imposed 60 car National limit. An additional 10 ClubRally-only cars will be accepted. Entries received before the seeded draw will be accepted starting with FIA, then Seed 1, then Seed 2, etc. If more than 60 entries are received, then the lowest seeded (Seed 6) entries will be put on a reserve list and/or have their entry fee refunded.
