The 2005 Maine Forest Rally will be a Friday/Saturday event counting toward the Rally America National Championship. There will be a Coefficient 2 Eastern Regional Rally on Friday and a Coefficient 3 Eastern Regional Rally on Saturday.
The MFR will consist of 9 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 13 miles, with a total stage length of 90 miles. Friday's rally will consist of 4 stages - 28 miles; Saturday's rally will have 5 stages - 61 miles. Most stages will be run twice, with some repeated in various configurations. The last stage Friday evening may be run in darkness for some competitors. All stages are on gravel roads owned by DILLON LOGGING, SEVEN ISLANDS LAND CO. and LANDVEST. The roads range from medium fast two lane to narrower and twistier 1-1/2 lane. Friday's pre-rally activities will be at the Mexico Rec. Area, including a Parc Expose. The rally will start with the Rec. Area Spectator Stage and then proceed directly to stage 2 and then into Oquossoc for service. Stage 3 will be a reverse running of stage 2. A short service break will be provided at the Rec. Area on the way to the final stage - the challenging Concord Pond stage. Upon completion of Concord Pond, crews will be free for the evening - no overnight parc ferme. We are currently planning on a "pizza party" at the Phoenix House, past Sunday River. The Saturday morning restart will be from the Sunday River Brewery; the route will take competitors via a quick service in Errol, NH to Magalloway. A dead-end stage will be run to Middle Dam; after the return, competitors will proceed to Errol for a one hour service. From here an interesting transit will take competitors to the two new stages - Dillon-Success and Marigrande. A second running of Dillon-Success will be followed by a transit to Sunday River for the finish. A buffet and awards will round out the evening. Lodging Information:
