Maine Forest Rally
Latest Worker Information

JB, and I would like to thank you for volunteering to help us make the Maine Forest Rally an event the competitors will remember. The event is fast approaching. This letter contains general information to assist you in planning your activities.

General Items:
There are several item of general interest to all. Maine Forest Rally would like to thank Subaru of America for sponsoring the famous "License Plates".

Maine Forest Rally would like to thank DC Shoes for the Worker Shirts.

As many of you are aware, performance rallying continues to have difficulty obtaining land on which to play. 2006 is no exception! One of the landowners has closed his land to the Maine Forest Rally even to transit over. This means you cannot take shortcuts off Route 26 to either Success Pond Road or Middle Dam stage, even if you know the way. You must enter Success Pond Road from Berlin and Middle Dam from Fish Pond Road off Route 16.

This letter is being sent to approximately 100 worker that I know are coming, one per household.

I will be out of touch working at the NASCAR Cup Race at NHIS from 11 July to 17 July, coming home on the 17th weather permitting. Please all pray for no rain on Sunday. I will leave on Tuesday the 18th for Sunday River. That means I will clear the Fax machine on Mon pm - Tues am; likewise my e-mail.

Registration:
Registration will be at the South Ridge Welcome Center of Sunday River. Continue on the Sunday River access road beyond the turn off for the Grand Summit. The Welcome Center is on the left side of the large parking lot at the end of the road. Hours: Thursday: 7pm-10pm; Friday: 7am-10am; Saturday: 6:30am-7:30am. For those who checked "Registration" I can and will use all of you. If you checked more than Registration, I have assigned you to the other job when finish with Registration. If requested no second job, I have assigned you to MTC as Dan Way and I need additional people. I will be at the Welcome Center by 2pm on Thursday to start set-up.

Everyone must come to Registration to sign the waiver. This requirement covers several reasons: You are covered by event insurance; registrars can check to see MFR has your contact information; you can pick up your shirt; and I do not put you down as a NO SHOW.

Tech:
Tech will be at the Sunday River maintenance building located off the Access Road before the Welcome Center. Don Taylor has notified his crew as to times.

Worker's Meeting:
The Worker's meeting will be at the Welcome Center on Friday at 11am.

General Schedule:

Thursday:Registration: 7-10pm; Tech: 4-10pm
Friday:Registration: 7-10am; Tech: 7-10am; Worker's Meeting: 11am
"End Of Day Party" at the Phoenix House: 9pm to ??
Saturday:Parc Expose in Berlin: 8am; Buffet at the Welcome Center: 8pm

A more detailed schedule will be available at Registration.

Buffet Tickets:
I must give the preliminary count on 11 July and the final guarantee count on the 18th. So if you wish to add or subtract, please do so before those dates. Fax or email, no phone calls.

Pre-event Set-up:
Can I ever confuse myself! The sign-up form had a check box for Wednesday in two places; one under the event, the other under pre-event set-up. Some people checked both, others one or the other. There is no event activity on Wednesday. All Wednesday activity is pre-event set-up. I can use you regardless which box you checked and for how long you can work.

Wednesday Set-up:
Wednesday morning I will be setting up the stage start and spectator area at the Berlin, NH end. This is located at the junction of Hutchins Road and Success Pond Road near the landfill. Cross 12th Street bridge off Route 16 north of Berlin, turn right on Hutchins Road and follow Truck Route. Time: 9am to approx. 11am.

Wednesday afternoon will be Middle Dam spectator area, at Fish Pond Road off Route 16, Wilson Mills, ME. I will be at the restaurant in Errol, NH from noon - 1pm. Will be at Fish Pond Road area until approx. 3pm.

Suggest you bring plenty of water, snacks, heavy hammer to drive grade stakes, brush cutters, insect repellant.

Thursday Set-Up:
Thursday morning I will be setting up the Mexico Rec Park located off Route 17. This is an extensive job and depending upon how many show up, will determine the time it takes. I plan to start around 9am and finish by noon. I have to leave at noon. I hope to have it laid out so those there can finish what is not yet done.

Suggest you bring plenty of water, snacks, heavy hammer to drive grade stakes.

Again THANK YOU for volunteering. See you at the Maine Forest Rally.
