New England Forest Rally
Event Information

Newry, Maine
July 13-14, 2007

The 2007 New England Forest Rally will be a Friday/Saturday event counting toward the Rally America National Championship. There will be a Coefficient 2 Eastern Regional Rally on Friday and a Coefficient 3 Eastern Regional Rally on Saturday.

The NEFR will consist of 11 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 16 miles, with a total stage length of 97 miles. Friday's rally will consist of 5 stages - 28 miles; Saturday's rally will have 6 stages - 67 miles. Most stages will be run twice, in opposite directions. The last stage Friday evening may be run in darkness for some competitors. All stages are on gravel roads owned by DILLON LOGGING and SEVEN ISLANDS LAND CO. The roads range from medium fast two lane to narrower and twistier 1-1/2 lane.

On Thursday we'll have a Recce Pre-Run, Tech starting late afternoon, and Registration starting early evening at the South Ridge Lodge at Sunday River. A pre-rally party with food, videos, and associated events will also take place at the South Ridge Lodge.

Registration and Tech will continue on Friday morning, again at the South Ridge Lodge. A shakedown stage will be available (same as last year) from 8-9:30.

At noon a Parc Expose at the Mexico Rec Area will precede a parade to the start of the Rec stage; the first SS will be run in reverse order at 30 second intervals. Returning thru the woods to another Parc Expose, the competitors will be restarted, in order, for a second run at the Rec stage. The rally then proceeds to stage 2 – South Arm. As last year, competitors will turn around at the end of the stage (light refreshments will be available) in a boat landing area and then run South Arm backwards as SS 3.

A return to the Rec Area will allow competitors to service and regroup before tackling the final stage of the day – the challenging Concord Pond stage. Upon completion of Concord Pond, crews will return to Sunday River for a 1-hour flex-service before an overnight Parc Ferme (to allow everyone to have the night free). The results of Friday's Regional and refreshments will be at the Phoenix House, located next to the Parc Ferme/service zone.

On Saturday the Parc Ferme will open at 6 AM and all competitors will proceed to Berlin, NH (35 miles) for a Parc Expose. From the 9 AM start it’s only a mile to the start of the Dillon-Success stage (including a spectator area near the start). A reverse running of that stage will bring the competitors back to the NH Community Technical College for service.

From here a long transit leads to the best stages of the rally: Middle Dam. After running the long Middle Dam In and Out, competitors will service at the DOT Lot and then return to the last two stages: the northern half of the Middle Dam road. All that remains now is a long transit to the finish at South Ridge. A buffet and awards presentation will round out the evening.
