First JB and I would like to thank each of you for volunteering to work. It takes a lot of people to put on an event. This letter is going out to those that I know are coming, one to an address. If you have friends/family that are coming and have not told me, please let me know. I like to make an assignment list before the event, even though JB says I am crazy. I know there are a large number that show up and a number that do not. Having an assignment list beforehand lets me know if I need to panic. Here are a number of informational items in no particular order. 7 Islands Land Company gave the rally permission to clear underbrush to enlarge the spectator area for the Middle Dam Stage. This includes cutting a path from the parking lot down the other side of the road. Maybe this will reduce the need to cross the road. I will be going up to work on Saturday, 7 July hoping to get there between 9-10 am. The start is on Fish Pond Road off Route 16, east of Wilson Mills, ME. If you can make great. It is not necessary to let me know ahead, but it will help. Bring your own tools. My set-up days are:
Many of you did not give me a shirt size. Does that mean you do not want a shirt? My drop dead date for award banquet ticket orders is Friday, July 6th. For those arriving Thursday evening there will be a welcome party at the Sunday River Brew Pub - 7pm to ??. All are welcome. At this time it will be a cash party, still working on finding a sponsor. Every year people move on or move up to new jobs. This year has hit the registration crew and MTC crew very hard. I need to create an entire new MTC/RGC crew. I am looking for 2 people with ATC/FTC/MTC experience that would like to lead and 3-4 people who would like to learn the job. I need several additional people willing to work registration Thursday evening - 6-10 pm and/or Friday morning - 7-10 am. For years L. Mark Stone has kept a tight control over the service areas. After this year he is moving onto another job. I would like to assign him 2-3 people with the understanding he will train them to take over in 2008. Any takers for the above openings? If so, drop me a line, email or fax as I will be out of town on business until 3 July. If I am lucky, which I doubt, I will try to get the preliminary assignment list together before the event. If not, it will be posted at registration. Thank you for coming,
Ted Goddard
