27. Clarification on the Perry King/Bob Martin Hyundai Tiburon Production class DNF. King went off the road, hit a rock, and became high-centered. It took two hours to get the car out of its predicament, and by then, it was time barred. The only real damage was a bent control arm.

28. If you want to see results, stage times, etc., formatted in a way that automatic web sit posting did not allow, go to the web site of the event scorer Jean-Georges Marcotte at http://pages.infinit.net/jgeorges/result/maine2000.htm. Also, updated point standings will be posted on www.scca.org as soon as they are computed at the national office.

29. The Mark Utecht/Brenda Corneliusen Dodge Omni has a most well deserved Group 5 win, slogging through the last stages with no fourth gear and intermittent electrical problems. The hard-charging Utecht also finished eighth overall, only 30 seconds behind the Krolikowski Subaru Group N car. Honda Civic Group 5 challenger Bryan Hourt/Tom Tighe could never quite run down their fuel starvation/loss power problem, and finally parked the car after a very slow 25-mile stage run. Fuel pump replacement did not do the trick, and they'll wait until they return to Ohio to find the problem, which caused the team's first DNF in two years. The Ralph Kosmides/Ken Cassidy Toyota Supra could never get any closer to Utecht then the three minutes they lost on Friday because of a crushed exhaust system (originally reported as a differential problem). In fact, Kosmides barely held off 3rd place Rick Davis/Mark Goldfarb's BMW M 318ti, besting Rick by only 12 seconds.

30. In Production GT, the Eagle Talons ruled, with the NYC-based Irish contingent taking the top two spots. Celcus Donnelly/Paul Donnelly won the class and finished tenth overall, while Brendan Cunningham/Paul McClean was 11th overall and one minute behind Donnelly.

31. In Group 2, the Nicholas Robinson/Carl Lindquist Honda was untouchable all day, taking the class by almost two minutes despite their bobble on the in-town stage. Second was the Jon Nichols/Mike Koch VW GTI entry from Canada, with the exhaustless Saab (they lost two whole exhaust systems during the event) of Mike White/Michael Ronan third. Speaking of Saabs, the Gerry Sweet/Stuart Spark Saab 99 rolled on stage #7, shattering all its window glass. Only the Herculean efforts of the other Saab teams, plus a windshield (complete with a New Hampshire inspection sticker) from Mike White, enabled him to finish.

32. The Heikki Salmen/Constantine Mantopoulos Mercedes C220 from Finland ran much better on Saturday after the rough stages Friday night. The car suffered from electrical problems, however, and finished well back in the pack.
