DOUBLE Rallycross Oct 23/24 in NY
The final rallycrosses in 1999 for the New York Region rallycross championship will be held on October 23rd and 24th!
This is the first time a DOUBLE rallycross has been organized by our club. Competition will commence on Saturday mid-afternoon and finish well after dark to mark the first time stages will be run at night! The field at the Irish Cultural Centre at Rt145 East Durham is only partially lit at night, therefore some competitors may want to equip their cars with auxiliary lighting. However, "stock" cars that do so, will be bumped up to modified class!
The course consists of a new stage (0.6mile in length) to be added to the existing stage of 1.15miles. A two-stage format is also a first for us and this should reduce some of the waiting time between runs....as well as making it more challenging and increasing 'seat time'! We plan to make as many runs as possible that time and conditions will allow! Track surfaces vary from very hard-packed gravel, to asphalt, grass and loose dirt! The course is generally very smooth, flat and fast! We anticipate 60+ cars to enter!
Shortly after ending Saturday's night stages, everyone is invited to the Rally Party in the conference room at the hosting resort motel...PLEASANTVIEW. This beautiful motel features every luxury amenity and sport facility one could expect. It is only 4 miles from E. Durham on Rt. 67 Freehold and is large enough to accommodate all rallyists and friends! There are currently 85 rooms on hold for us! The party will have pizza, refreshments and beer! The latest rally videos will be played on a large screen projection TV and also video from the day's earlier action.
Sunday's rallycross will follow the usual program. Official results, awards and dinner will be held at a location to be announced at the rallycross.
Entry fees: $40 per event or $65 for both!
