WDCR-SCCA RallyCross #6 - Sunday, December 16th

The sixth and final RallyCross of the 2001 DC Region RallyCross series is upon us. On Sunday, December 16th we will wrap up the season by introducing a new venue and returning to gravel! The site is in Fishersville, VA, at the Augusta Expoland, near the intersection of I-81 and I-64. From I-64, east of I-81, take exit 91, turn toward the McDonald's, and immediately look for the green sign for 'Expoland'. Couldn't be easier! For those of you coming from good distances, it's a straight shot.

It's been more than a year since we hosted a RallyCross on gravel. Unlike Nissan Pavilion, where we held two gravel events in 2000, the parking lot at Augusta Expoland has a slate base, smaller gravel, and better scenery. Ruts and piles of gravel will be at a minimum, which means any possible damage on your pretty wheels (chipping, pitting) will be at a minimum, if not non-existent.

If you haven't been keeping up, DCregion RallyCrosses now feature SIX runs per competitor on two different stages (3 runs on each). Courses have been averaging a bit longer than 3/4 mile. In addition, we will be debuting a technique that will have displaced cones placed back exactly where they were, if that kind of thing gets under your skin.

Fees will be $25 for SCCA members and $45 for non-members IF you pre-register by 6:00pm, Friday December 14th at www.dcrally.com. Fees are $30 SCCA/$50 non-SCCA on the day of the event. Registration opens Friday, November 16th, no later than 6:00pm. Pre-payment is not necessary, but is appreciated (details on the website).

There is fast food nearby, so the lunch break will be shortened to a half-hour. We should be done by 4:30, giving everyone a chance to run in daylight.
