Rally New York 2002
Letter to Spectators
and
Area Residents

Welcome to all spectators and the area residents from the organizing committee of Rally
New York 2002. Rally New York takes place in the towns of Andes, Bovina, Colchester
and Middletown in the scenic Catskill Mountains of New York on September 13 and 14, 2002.
The Rally is sanctioned by the New York Region of the Sports Car Club of America.
The event is part of the SCCA North East Division ClubRally Championship.

To the spectators, we want say that all of us - both the spectators and the competitors -
must be mindful of the fact that we are guests in this beautiful area. The competitors
know how to conduct themselves both on the road and off the road. We remind spectators to
scrupulously observe the local speed limits, extend every courtesy to the residents,
watch the Rally only from the designated and marshaled spectator areas, remove all trash
and containers when leaving the spectator area and generally behave in a way that will
make it possible for us to return next year.

We thank the area residents and the Towns of Andes, Bovina, Colchester and Middletown
for allowing us to have Rally New York in this beautiful area. The organizing committee
has worked long and hard for the better part of the last twelve months to make Rally
New York happen. However, this Rally would have not been possible without outstanding
support from the Andes Fire Department and EMS, the Fire Departments and EMS units from
Bovina, Delhi, Arena, Middletown, Downsville, Margaretville, Beaverkill Valley and from
the Andes Chamber of Commerce.

The course is 335 miles long with 100 miles of special stages. Rally teams will encounter
a variety of smooth and rough road surfaces on stages that are on par with the best special
stages in the country. The roads vary from dirt to gravel and tarmac.

We welcome you to Rally New York and hope that you will have a great time spectating!

Ivan Orisek, Chairman Andy Wos, Co-Chairman & Local Liaison
