Rally New York 2005 will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2005. Registration of competitors, technical inspection of competition vehicles and optional reconnaissance will be on Friday. Early registration will take place on Thursday night. Competitors will receive commercially prepared numerical stage notes at no additional charge together with a tulip route book. Pace notes are allowed. The rally ceremonial start and finish will take place at the Government Center in Monticello, New York, which is located only 90 miles northwest of New York City. Please see the event schedule for locations and times. The special stages will be located in spectacular Sullivan County in the southern Catskill Mountains. All special stages will be entirely within the borders of the Town of Tusten in an area approximately 20 miles southwest of Monticello. The central service area will be located at Lender’s Campground in Narrowsburg for the duration of the rally. There will be twelve special stages with approximately 63 stage miles. Eight stages of 51 miles in length will be on gravel. The remaining four stages of 12 miles will be on tarmac. Tarmac stages will contain retarders in the form of chicanes for added safety. Last November, organizers paid for improvements of the rougher portion of Cochecton Turnpike stage - Deep Hollow Road. The plans are to purchase several hundred tons of gravel for smoothing out the rough parts of Mortimer Schiff stage. Monticello, New York is the center of a resort area with a wide range of excellent hospitality and lodging facilities and soon to be coming casinos and new hotels. Please see the list of recommended lodgings. Rally New York 2005 is the third round of the National Auto Sport Association Eastern States Rally Championship. The awards ceremony and dinner party on Saturday as well as the registration and scrutineering staring Thursday night will take place at Mr.Willy’s Restaurant in Monticello. Organizers want to thank Town of Tusten, Ten Mile River Reservation of Boy Scouts of America, Government of Sullivan County, Sullivan County Visitors Association, Village of Monticello, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, Lava Fire Department, Narrowsburg Fire Department, Narrowsburg Fire Police, members of Amateur Radio Associations from the tri-county area, Mobilemedic EMS, local businesses and civic organizations, and countless volunteer marshals for their assistance and support that make Rally New York possible. Sullivan County, New York is on the verge of significant economic development. Each Rally New York event contributes to this development by generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in economic benefits to the area. |
