Ellenville, NY — On Monday afternoon, February 11, 2008, the Rally New York Ltd. organization (www.RallyNewYork.com) presented a donation check in the amount of $500 to Steven Kelly, President & Chief Executive Offier of Ellenville Regional Hospital. The presentation was made by Ivan Orisek, President of Rally New York Ltd. Orisek said, "Rally New York enjoys, being a part of such a wonderful community as Ellenville/Wawarsing; many have welcomed us with open arms and we look forward to a long relationship with the area." Also in attendance was Rich Otis, Deputy Clerk of the Course - Rally Control and a local liaison for Rally New York events. Mr. Kelly said, "we sure hope none of the racers needs our services, but we’re here if they do." Rally New York Ltd. presents two rounds of the United States Rally Championship (www.usrallychampionship.com) each year. The next round, Rally New York USA will take place on April 4 - 5, 2008. International Rally New York in September 2007 was the first event in the Ellenville/Wawarsing area. It was such a success the organization has entered into a three year contract with the Town of Wawarsing for two events per year. Rally racing is the most popular motor sport in many parts of the world and is growing in popularity in the US. Regular cars, typically small sedans modified for safety and performance, race against the clock (not wheel to wheel) in a test of speed and endurance on sections of public roads that are closed by permit to regular traffic for a short period of time.
