Rally New York USA Fact Sheet

The Event:Rally New York USA 2008, an auto rally in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. The Catskills are approximately 90 miles from New York City by car.
Dates:April 3-5, 2008
A summary of the schedule is given below. More complete schedule information can be obtained from the event website.
 Thursday, April 3:

Place:Official start and finish in downtown Ellenville, New York. Competitive sections will be held in Wawarsing, Thompson and Neversink, New York. A competitive section especially for spectators ("super special" in rally slang) will be held at the Concord Resort in Monticello, New York on Friday night, April 4.
Headquarters:Nevele Resort in Ellenville, New York
Distance:Approx. 380 miles total; approx. 100 miles of "special stages" (speed tests on roads closed to normal traffic).
Competitors:Some of the top rally drivers and teams from the United States, Canada, Europe and South America are also expected to be represented. Each car will have two occupants, a driver (who drives, naturally) and a co-driver (a navigator/tactician).
Cars:Specially-modified compacts and sport coupes (examples: Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf). There are classes for all-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive.
Championships:This is the opening round of the United States Rally Championship. The Friday and Saturday runs are each scored as an event in the New York Rally Championship, which is organized by Rally New York, Ltd.
