Broken front differential before special stage 8 on Friday afternoon.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6
Pulled off at the spectator point at special stage 7 on Friday afternoon when fan damaged 
radiator; crew changed radiator and also broken drive to rear wheels from center 
differential; restarted on Saturday morning; hit gravel and had big spin on last stage 
but didn’t hit anything.

NYRC 2 – 4th overall, 4th AWD

5 – Michael O’Leary/John O’Leary
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 4 (O’Leary Construction)
Spun and backed into tree on Saturday morning, but without chassis damage; lost all 
braking due to hydraulic problem on stage 26 (next to last), fixed problem after the 
stage to have half-powered brakes on last stage.
USRC – 21st overall, 8th Open AWD
NYRC 1 – 13th overall, 8th AWD
NYRC 2 – 9th overall, 9th AWD

6 – Otis Dimiters/Dominik Jozwiak 
2007 Subaru Impreza WRX (NC Rally, Autosport Engineering, G Dezine)
Car smoking from turbo for most of the weekend; hose to intercooler came loose 
repeatedly, starting with stage 2; lost fuel pressure on stage 6 (Friday morning) but the 
service crew fixed it by changing the regulator at the next service stop; lost 2nd, 4th and 
reverse gears on Saturday evening.
USRC – 2nd overall, 2nd Open AWD
NYRC 1 – 2nd overall, 2nd AWD
NYRC 2 – 2nd overall, 2nd AWD

7 – Martin Donnelly/Stephen Duffy

Went wide on one corner on Saturday morning, without damage.

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (Somerset Subaru)
Bad tire choice on Friday morning; tire came off during a transit and passed them on 
Friday evening, but they put it back with the help of competitors Scott Wilburn and 
Michael Cosgrove.

NYRC 1 – 5th overall, 5th AWD
NYRC 2 – 6th overall, 6th AWD

11 – Ivor Wigham/Jeff Hagan 
Mitsubishi Lancer (European Rally School, K&N, H&R)
Went off from special stage 4 (Friday morning), impacting on stone wall and support 
cable to telephone pole – car suffered bent frame and lost skid plate.

12 – Patrick Brennan/Carrie Wilburn
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Broken front axle at start of stage 9; crew fixed it overnight, and Brennan had a good day 
on Saturday.

Suffered problems with fuel pump pressure and power steering.

Hood blew up and broke windshield on Saturday evening.

16 – Francisco Pereira/Adam Vokes
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Pereira’s first rally in 12 years, first paved rally, first rally with 4WD, and his first in this 
car – given that, he performed well; found the rally to be “awesome.”

17 – Michael Cosgrove/John O’Reilly
Mitsubishi Eclipse (T&G Relocation, Jim Charlton Inc.)
Clutch started slipping on the first special stage on Saturday (ss 16) due to oil leaking into 
the clutch housing; crew treated the problem with an old rally trick – pouring cola into 
the housing.
USRC – 10th overall, 3rd Production AWD
NYRC 1 – 10th overall, 1st Pre-Modern AWD
NYRC 2 – 19th overall, 1 st Pre-Modern AWD

18 – Bruce Davis/Jimmy Brandt
Dodge Neon SRT-4
Good performance by two rally veterans; second in 2WD on Friday morning; pulled into 
the 2WD lead on Friday afternoon and stayed there.
USRC – 7th overall, 1st 2WD, 1st Open 2WD
NYRC 1 – 6th overall, 1st 2WD
NYRC 2 – 11th overall, 1st 2WD

19 – Hampton Bridwell/Josh Katinger

Smooth, consistent run.

Leading 2WD category by 2 seconds at lunch time on Friday; fell to second in 2WD later 
in the day, and held that position until he went off from special stage 19 on Saturday 
morning.

24 – Richard Spaulding/Niall Johnson
Ford Focus SVT (Synaptic 3 & Jayne Spaulding Design)
Hit fog on last stage on Friday evening, but found that they were performing better as a 
team than they had in the past, so that they were only 6 seconds slower than they had 
been on the previous (non-foggy) run through the section; Spaulding commented that “I 
love the roads.”

NYRC 1 – 20th overall, 10th 2WD

Nissan Sentra (Mayo Group)
No problems.

Not able to start special stage 7 on Friday afternoon – crew didn’t know the cause; car 
running well to that point.

31 – Thomas Greer/Robert Della Rocca
Volkswagen Golf GTI
Interesting car, which had a V6 engine and 5-speed transmission from a Corrado 
transplanted into a Golf Mark 2 shell.
USRC – 12th overall, 4th 2WD, 3rd Open 2WD
NYRC 1 – 12th overall, 4th 2WD
NYRC 2 – 17th overall, 6th 2WD

32 – Steven Levesque/Kristin Chute
BMW M3
Levesque’s second performance-type rally and first national; he found the fog on Friday 
evening “exciting.”
USRC – 22nd overall, 10th 2WD, 3 rd Production 2WD
NYRC 1 – 21st overall, 11th 2WD
NYRC 2 – 22nd overall, 10th 2WD

33 – Randy Lee Skiles/Darren Stursa
Honda Civic (Honda R&D Americas)
This team, and #34, were Honda engineers who were competing (as novice rallyists) in 
their spare time (Note: NOT a factory team); slid into ditch on special stage 2 on Friday 
morning, but continued. Skiles/Stursa switched cars with Neisen/Lueker and took over 
(newer) #34 car on Saturday as planned; rolled on stage 19 on Saturday afternoon without 
injury.

34 – Michael Neisen/David Lueker
Honda Civic (Honda R&D Americas)
This novice team (also Honda engineers) ran well on Friday; took over #33 car on 
Saturday; changed left front control arm at last service, but during the same stop they 
discovered a rear tire rub which they couldn’t solve in time – withdrew.

35 – Conor Malone/Glenna Chestnutt
Dodge Conquest
Team from Toronto, competing in their first performance rally; withdrew from Friday run 
after radiator failure on special stage 2; fixed car and restarted Saturday; completed the 
day without incident.

NYRC 1 – dnf (2WD)
NYRC 2 – 23rd overall, 11th overall

43 – Ken Block/Alessandro “Alex” Gelsomino 
2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (Subaru Rally Team USA, Monster Energy, DC)
Team ordered Block not to bend the car, as they had to run the same car in Washington in 
a week; clipped a rock causing flat tire on Friday afternoon, which Block and Gelsomino 
changed on the next transit zone; otherwise a clean run.
USRC – 1st overall, 1st Open AWD
NYRC 1 – 1st overall, 1st AWD
NYRC 2 – 1st overall, 1st AWD

311 – Simon Wright/Kieran Wright 
2001 Ford Focus ZX3 (USUK Racing)
First time with the car in modified trim; went off from special stage 14 (the golf course, 
Friday evening) and into a ditch; wound up with some of the rough in the car’s grille, but 
avoided the sand traps and got back on the road; car’s electronic dashboard malfunctioned 
on Saturday morning, but the service crew fixed it at the next stop; no further problems; 
team had an electronic beacon which allowed fans to track its location using their web 
site, www.usukracing.com.
USRC – 15th overall, 7th 2WD, 6th Open 2WD
NYRC 1 – 17th overall, 7th 2WD
NYRC 2 – 18th overall, 7th 2WD
