Official Bulletin 1
9/22/2004 Change of Route:
On Saturday, September 18, 2004, five and a half inches of rain fell on Sullivan County, New York. This resulted in a countywide state of emergency. Several special stage roads and bridges were washed away and may not be repaired until next year.
We have been able to secure an alternative route thanks to outstanding cooperation by the officials of the Town of Tusten and the management of Boy Scouts of America Ten Mile River Reservation.
The new route will be slightly longer with twelve special stages. Eight stages of 52 miles in length will be on gravel. The remaining four stages of 13 miles will be on tarmac. The crews will have the opportunity to change tires for tarmac stages. Tarmac stages will contain retarders in the form of chicanes for added safety. All special stages will be different from special stages used by Rally New York in April 2004.
This means that the event itinerary, the time schedule, course and spectator maps and supplemental regulations, published on www.RallyNewYork.com on September 20, and the route book, all completed by September 16, must now be redone. This work will continue during the upcoming weeks and updates will be published on www.RallyNewYork.com as they become available.
