Media Alert:
First Rally New York U.S.A., Nov. 6
First Rally New York Rallycross Series, Oct. 10 and Nov. 21

Forestburgh, New York -- Based on the success of last April's Rally New York,
the organizers of that event are pleased to announce two new
events, Rally New York U.S.A. and the Rally New York Rallycross Series.
All of these will be held in Sullivan County, approximately 90 miles
from New York City.

The Rally
Rally New York U.S.A., on Saturday, November 6, will be the final round
of the 2004 Eastern States Rally Championship, sanctioned by the
National Auto Sport Association. The rally course will be 240 miles
long, with 65 miles of special stages (speed tests against the clock).
The special stage roads will be a mix of dirt and pavement, and all
will be different from the roads used for last spring's Rally New York.
These special stages will be connected by sections of public road, on
which rallyists must observe all traffic and speed laws.

Each car will carry two people, a driver and a co-driver (navigator).
Most teams also have service crews to perform repairs or routine
service during the rally. The cars are generally compact sedans, such
as Dodge Neons, Mitsubishi Lancers or Subaru Imprezas.
Technical inspection of competition vehicles will be conducted at Mr.
Willy’s restaurant in Monticello on Friday, November 5.

The start and finish of the rally on Saturday will be at the Government
Center in Monticello. Servicing will be conducted in Narrowsburg.
Spectators are welcome at the technical inspection, start, finish,
service area and designated spectator areas on the special stages.

The Rallycrosses
The Rally New York organizing group will also host a series of
rallycross events -- slalom events in a parking lot course with dirt
and gravel surface, marked with plastic cones -- for this first time
this fall. These competitions are open to all licensed drivers.

Cars must pass a safety inspection, but do NOT need to be rally-
prepared. And all drivers must wear an automotive-type helmet. Loaner
helmets will be available. Passengers or co-drivers are allowed, but
not required, and must also wear a helmet.

Some of the drivers who will compete in Rally New York U.S.A. are
expected to use the first rallycross as a tune-up for the rally.

The rallycrosses will be held at the Concord Resort in Monticello, on
Sunday October 10 and Sunday November 21. Spectators and members of the
media are welcome. Media rides will be offered.
