The Doo Wop 3 & 4 60% National marked the first overall victory in U.S. rallying for the Jamaican team of Peter Moodie and Michael Fennell. Moodie didn't put a wheel wrong all weekend, and the Mazda was spectacular in the Washington woods.

The recently re-shelled Escort Cosworth of Carl Merrill and John Bellefleur finished second overall and in Open class. Merrill was reeling Moodie in on Sunday but an overshot corner and ensuing stall robbed the Maine driver and Ontario co-driver of a possible win.

Californians Rui Brasil and John Elkin had a very productive weekend in the Azores Express Audi Quattro. Besides finishing third overall in the National segment of the rally, the duo finished second in the Doo Wop 3 Divisional and won the Doo Wop 4 Divisional convincingly.

Mike Whitman (from New Mexico) and co-driver Kevin Linville (from Colorado) narrowly edged Californian Dave White (with Jimmy Brandt reading the routebook) in Group 2. The final margin of victory in the class was just 11 seconds. Whitman was as exuberant as ever, pitching his 510 every which way (as some neat in-car video demonstrated). The car stayed on the road and Whitman/Linville were rewarded with sixth overall.
