Greg was born in Canada where rallying was an everyday language in his home. His father, Bill Montgomery, was a Rally Champion in the 70's. In 1976 he organized the Rallye des Neiges in Quebec. Greg's father was transferred to California in 1978. Greg attended school in San Ramon, California.
In 1993, Greg graduated from the University of California San Francisco Medical Center and became a licensed Paramedic. Since 1995 he has worked as a Paramedic for American Medical Response (largest provider of Paramedic services in USA) in Contra Costa County. He is a Senior Paramedic and Chairman of the Health and Safety Board. Greg also works for Ebbetts Pass Fire District and Bethel Island Fire District as a Firefighter/Paramedic.
In early 2001, Greg purchased an Open Class '88 Toyota All-Trac GT4. Fellow friend, Kevin Rudnicki, was co-driver for him at his first event, Gorman Ridge. "Drive what you see" became the theme of the rally for them as this was Kevin's first experience reading a route book. The two were fast but a DNF came quick as the motor retired. (Greg, did you tighten the oil plug?)
In December 2001, Greg called on his father's expertise to co-drive for him at the Ramada Express Hotel and Casino International Rally. This was Greg's first International event and Bill's first event in close to 20 years. Although the team DNF'd due to overheating, this was the beginning of HIMARK RACING.
Greg's sponsors include Downforce Distributing and Advanced Auto Body. Competition plans for 2002 are to finish the rallies he DNF'd in 2001.
Greg is the new Rally Chief for the SCCA San Francisco Region and has organized a RallyCross series at Thunderhill race track for 2002. Also a SCCA ClubRally event for the Region is in the works for 2003.
