Ask Kendall Russell what she likes to do in her spare time and the answer will be to "GO RACING!" The only decision she has to make is which car she will compete in on any given weekend. Kendall's driving skills have been tested in SCCA Solo events, on road courses and on the drag strip. Her affinity for fast cars comes quite naturally having grown up in Birmingham, Alabama where learning to race was almost an official right of passage.
Racing activities were partially interrupted while Kendall attended the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, Alabama to obtain her B.S. and M.S. degrees. She later obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. Kendall Russell believes that education has been her "key" to success in racing and in business.
In 1993 she was introduced to the sport of PRO Rally by John K. Shirley who asked her to co-drive at a divisional event. From 1993-1996 she participated as co-driver in divisional and national PRO Rally events with John K. Shirley.
In 1997 she attended the RallyRight driving school at Ski Sawmill to learn more about the view from the driver's side of the car. After joining the "Turtle Club" in a practice session two hours before her first race, she managed a third place finish in the O2 class at the Ski Sawmill Divisional.
Kendall Russell competed in the Production GT class of the Michelin SCCA ProRally Series during 1998 and 1999. She raced a 1994 Dodge Shadow V6 FWD against a highly competitive field of 4WD turbo charged cars. Kendall's consistent race finishes earned her third place in the PGT Class in 1998 and fourth place in 1999. She was the only competitor to finish all races during the 1998 season and has the most number of consecutive finishes in ProRally. She has won the SouthEast Division ClubRally Championship in GT for 3 consecutive years and was appointed SCCA SouthEast Division ClubRally Co-Steward in 1999.
Kendall Russell resides in Knoxville, Tennessee where she is President and CEO of KCEE, Inc., a company that provides educational and child care services. She is also Director of the Appalachian Outreach Project, a community service organization that provides assistance to families with handicapped children in the extreme rural areas of eastern Tennessee.
