LOS ANGELES, CA — A week before the thrilling X Games Rally Car competition, Andrew "ACP" Comrie-Picard one of the top rally drivers in North America - will debut in a short-course off road truck race in Lake Elsinore, California.
This weekend, Comrie-Picard will drive a Bully Dog SuperLite truck with the support of Bully Dog and NOS Energy Drink.
"I've always wanted to race off-road and I'm totally thrilled to be doing this event," said Comrie-Picard. "I grew up on a farm and all my early driving was off-road and trucks so I'm hoping some of it comes back to me!"
It's an exciting cross-discipline entry in a series that has a number of drivers from other motorsport disciplines.
"We're delighted to have Andrew in one of our trucks to see what he can do with his rally skills. It's an exciting series and we're glad to support it with this entry," said Mike DeFord, Marketing Director of Bully Dog Performance.
The spec-series truck will be branded with NOS Energy Drink livery, Comrie-Picard's primary sponsor in the Rally America series and the X Games.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series provides incredible high-energy motorsports excitement in a closed-venue format, with wheel-to-wheel competition and challenging courses that include huge jumps.
"I like racing in traffic, we don't get to do it much in rally, but the psychology and strategy of being out on the track with a bunch of other competitive guys is exciting," said Comrie-Picard, "The course's jumps will also be good practice for the big one we'll run in the rally car at the Home Depot stadium on August 2nd at the X Games."
Comrie-Picard said he already feels at home in the series. K&N Filters, a major supporter of Comrie-Picard's rally program, is a sponsor of the Lucas Oil series. The driver was also on series-supporter Team Associated as a pro R/C car driver for much of his youth -- and competed at several World Championship events with that team.
The Lucas Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) is the evolution of the long-standing support of short course racing by Forrest Lucas and Lucas Oil. Steeped in the Midwest tradition of short course off road racing infused with a West Coast influence, LOORRS brings intense four-wheel, door-to-door action to challenging, fan friendly tracks.
The SuperLite Championship is a highly competitive racing series at an affordable price. The championship runs at each and every round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series 2009 schedule.
The championship will be featured on the Lucas Oil Series television package airing on SpeedTV, Versus and NBC. The SuperLite Championship will also have its own TV show on the Outdoor Channel covering the races, sponsors and drivers of the championship.
