MaxAttack!™ Triple Crown Rally Series Heads to the East Coast

Second Event of the New Championship for Two-Wheel-Drive Rally Cars Moves to the Challenging Roads of Rally West Virginia

Minneapolis, MN -- The second event in the new MaxAttack! Triple Crown Rally Series will take place on August 3 and 4 in Elkins, West Virginia. Sanctioned by the National Auto Sport Association, Rally West Virginia will cover nearly 100 racing miles that will test rally teams on narrow roads with more than 1500 feet in elevation changes. An excellent field of 22 two-wheel-drive rally cars will make the second round of MaxAttack! even more competitive than the series debut on the west coast.

In the first event of the MaxAttack! Triple Crown Rally Series, the Oregon Trail Rally, New York-based driver Andrew Havas and Québecois co-driver François Morin emerged victorious in a Honda Civic, finishing just ahead of the Ford Focus of Kyle Sarasin and Mikael Johansson. Fifteen eligible MaxAttack! competitors started the event.

The MaxAttack! Triple Crown Rally Series, presented by the Rallysports Group of America, consists of three events across the country, and each event will feature an $8,000 prize fund to be distributed among the top two-wheel-drive teams, as well as a season championship.

“We are honored and a little bit humbled to be part of the MaxAttack! series,” says Rally West Virginia chairman Mark Bowers. “We are excited to have their support at the event. We are thrilled with the level of competition in both the two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive divisions.” Bowers adds, “I will be intrigued to see the strategies employed by teams on this long and technically challenging event.”

Volkswagen Golf driver Josh Wimpey is enthusiastic about the MaxAttack! Triple Challenge presence at Rally West Virginia. “MaxAttack! has the draw to pull in competitors from around the country that might not otherwise come to West Virginia, and we look forward to seeing how we measure up to these teams. While we have great support from Delta V Motorsports and NGP Racing, we haven’t had the opportunity to compete for significant prize money; it really is an added incentive.”

The series concludes at the well-known Lake Superior Rally in Houghton, Michigan on the weekend of October 26-27.
