PRESCOTT, AZ — David Sterckx and Karen Jankowski of Sterckx Rally Sport Team won the 24th annual Prescott Rally. This was the second event together for the team and the first time either had competed at this event. The event was part of the USRC & CRS Rally Championship series. "After the heartbreak of coming so close to winning our first event together at Mendocino rally when our clutch broke, it made winning Prescott Rally even more special," stated Jankowski. "We are so excited to share this win with our new partner AlphaStar, they have been so supportive. This weekend wouldn’t have been possible without our crew chief Don Jankowski and Laeng Works hard work and efforts keeping the car going." The team suffered a tire puncture early in the event which cost them valuable time however they were able to rebound and set consistently fast times. "Rallies in the USA are much different than I am used to. We always had two pass recce and wrote our own stage notes. Not having recce and using organizer supplied notes has been a challenge along with stage descriptions being the opposite of what I am used to. A Left 6 in Belgium is the same as a Left 1 here in the USA," stated Sterckx. "I am so happy with the pace we have shown so far and am looking forward to our next race." The next event for the team will be at Mt. Hood Rally October 21-22nd in Hood River, Oregon (http://mthoodrally.com/).
