PHOENIX, Arizona -- Scott Rally Team will compete in the Susquehannock Trail ProRally (STPR) on June 7 - 8 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania competing in the Group 2 Championship. The third SCCA ProRally Championship will mark the team's second competition sporting the new 2003 Ford Focus SVT.
Brian Scott, with co-driver Dave Hackett competed in the Rim of the World Rally in Palmdale, California finishing a respectable third in the Group 2 class. This was a major feat for Scott Team as the Rim of the World was their first rally after making the switch from a Production GT Eclipse to a Group 2 Ford Focus SVT.
"We were very pleased with the results from the Rim of the World Rally. This was a great finish driving the new Ford Focus SVT for the first time," said Scott. "We faced some challenges with weather and getting acquainted with the new two-wheel drive but we are confident that this experience will help in the next ProRally championship series in Pennsylvania."
The STPR course begins at the Green in Wellsboro and takes about 14 hours to complete. Competitors cover a total of 310 miles, including 125 competitive miles in 10 stages. The challenging course offers a generally smooth and curving ride through Pennsylvania's state forest roads. This race, which spans two long days, will be a test of Scott Teams stamina and endurance.
Driver, Brian Scott, is bringing in a new team member to co-drive at STPR. Co-driver Ed Wahl is a seasoned veteran with many years of racing under his belt. STPR will mark the first race the two join forces.
"Ed brings a lot of experience to the Scott Team and I'm confident that he will be a valuable member of our team," said Scott. "Ed is very knowledgeable when it comes to the STPR course and he knows the terrain, which I feel will help Scott Team get to the next level in the Group 2 Championship."
Scott Team missed the first race of the season at Sno Drift Rally with their transition to the new Ford Focus SVT. The team is focused on finishing well at STPR to close the gap on points leader Chris Whiteman. - more - "We have made the necessary improvements on the car that gave us some minor problems at the Rim of the World Rally and we think that this race will be the first real test of the cars endurance," said Scott.
This will mark the third season for Scott Racing, which includes driver Brian Scott, co-drivers Dave Hackett and Ed Wahl, crew chief Ed Hale and Troy Crabbtree. Scott Team has won the Southern Pacific (SOPAC) divisional championship and placed first in the 100 Acre Wood Rally and secured the Production GT (PGT) National Club Rally Championship.
