WELLSBORO, PA -- Driver Chris Havas and co-driver Eric Tremblay left the first Germania service in high spirits as they were running first in Group 2 and 12th overall. However, their chances of even finishing the event came to an abrupt end on stage #10 when, without warning, the Metalmarks team found car #99 across the road at the exit of a blind, uphill sweeping right.
The VW impacted the Subaru with the left front corner. Damage to the Group 2 Golf was so extensive the team could not continue. Fortunately, no one was injured as the driver and co-driver of the Subaru had made it out of their car and up the embankment to safety.
The Metalmarks Team is hoping they will be able to repair the car in time for the Mt. Washington Hillclimb to be held June 23rd-24th.
Thanks go to the service team of Frank DeKat, Jay Surprenant and Matt Surprenant who did a great job before, during and after the event.
Metalmarks International Rally Team would also like to thank their sponsors: Mid-Atlantic Trading, 1-800-VWParts, PIAA Lights and Panasport Wheels.
Photos from STPR will be posted at the Metalmarks web site in the next few days.
