Indianapolis, Indiana -- As Formula One descends upon the Brickyard for the United States Grand Prix this weekend, the Rev2/TuneTech Rally Team leaves Indianapolis behind, heading east toward Harrisville, New York to compete in the Black River Stages ClubRally.
The Co-efficient "3" rally, hosted by Blue Mountain Region, SCCA, marks the debut of an all-new entry in Group 5 for #82 Rev2/TuneTech teammates, Mike Hurst (driver, Indianapolis, IN) and Rob Bohn (co-driver, Noblesville, IN).
Hurst recently completed the construction of a Ford Mustang to battle the infamous "yumps" that make up the Black River circuit. "We didn't set out at the beginning of the season to do this, but we've completed a trifecta of American marques entered in Performance Rally events this year. We entered a Pontiac at Sno*Drift, a Dodge at Maine Forest and now the Ford in New York," said Mike. "This is definitely the fastest car we've had this year." The blue, 2900 pound, mildly stock, 5-litre Mustang coupe delivers 240hp and 300lb/ft of torque to the road through a Borg Warner 5-speed and a 4:10 final drive.
"In addition to winning, a major focus of this event is to shake down the car for the Lake Superior ProRally in Michigan. We'd like to be ultra-competitive and get as many bugs worked out as possible," lamented Hurst. "This weekend we're planning to sort out the car, before installing a 6 litre engine for future events."
Competition begins Saturday, September 23rd, with the first car off at 9:30am and the first car finishing at 9:00pm. Stages consist of gravel and sand-based roads, 1 to 1.5 lanes wide and range from 5 to 8 miles long.
