Lake Zurich, IL -- TAD Motorsports is pleased to announce the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI rally car to compete in the Sports Car Club of America's Pro Rally Championship. TAD Motorsports, a rally car preparation shop located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, has previously supported several other championship winning cars including 1997 Group 5 Champion Sam Bryan's Saab 900 Turbo and 1998 Open Class and Overall Champion David Summerbell, Jr.'s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV.
The car arrived from Japan recently and construction has begun in earnest with plans of debuting the car at the Susquehannock Trail Pro Rally in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania on June 2 and 3. The car will be built to Open Class rules and use the latest technology parts from companies like Autronic Fuel Management Systems, GAB Suspension, Red Line Synthetic Lubricants and Tecnomagnesio Wheels.
Driving duties will be handled by veteran road racing and rally car champion, Peter Cunningham. His driving talents are highly sought after with the experience of a remarkable twenty-five 24-hour endurance races and driving stints behind the wheel of North American Touring cars and SCCA World Challenge cars among others. He currently competes in a BMW M3 in the American Le Mans Series. Rally fans will remember Cunningham from the 1993 rally season when he won the Production Class Championship and the Jon Woodner Cup for the highest placing 2-wheel drive car, in an Acura Integra GSR. Cunningham's vast competition experience on the road and off, should have him fighting for the overall lead from the first stage. Currently, Cunningham plans on competing in 3-4 Pro Rallies this year depending on his demanding road racing schedule with an eye on running the full Championship in 2001. TAD Motorsports is in negotiations with several other drivers to compete in the car on events where Cunningham is unavailable. The car is also available for other promotional and competition events.
