VANCOUVER, BC -- Get ready to hit the next road rally in style as Total Motors Group celebrates its grand opening and open house for the general public on Saturday, March 8, 2003. As Western Canada's only business dedicated to the motorsport of rallying, Total Motors Group features a 1,000 sq. ft. retail showroom and full service automotive shop. It caters to both racing enthusiasts and the average consumers through services, such as mechanical work for street and competition vehicles, clinics and workshops, as well as providing consultation for rallysport and custom fabrication work.
"As an active competitor in the Pacific Northwest and an organizer of rally events in BC, I recognized the need for a proper business to cater to the needs of the growing rally community." Says Ken Kwong, co-founder, "As the rally community grew, the competitors were individually searching for equipment suppliers and skilled fabricators to assist in building their competition vehicles. Once these vehicles are built, they need to be properly maintained by someone who understands the wear and tear these vehicles endure at an event. Total Motors Group was created as a centre for all of these services."
Open seven days a week, Total Motors Group is located at 975 Marine Drive in North Vancouver, British Columbia and is ready to awe customers with an adrenaline-packed retail showroom including current projects and competition cars on display.
"Our retail store offers a full line of professional equipment for rally cars, race gear and fan wear. We complemented the business with a full service automotive shop used to service both competition and everyday road vehicles, " adds Kwong," All rally cars are based on production vehicles currently in the marketplace. Naturally, our services can cross between these two profiles seamlessly, therefore we've opened a shop that services the customers' regular street vehicles as well. Anyone with a car that requires servicing is welcome to enquire about our services."
Rallying is the fastest growing form of motorsport in North America and uses production-based cars, identical to those available to consumers at your local dealership. Rally competition puts these vehicles through some of the most demanding and punishing conditions that one could ever imagine, including racing on all type of surfaces, from pavement to gravel and from snow to ice. Manufacturers use rally car technology to increase the durability of their vehicles and Subaru is a prime example of this with their rally-bred Impreza WRX.
This form of motorsport has piqued the interest of all racing fans through increased exposure of the World Rally Championship, which is broadcast regularly on the Speed Channel. In Western Canada, participation in rallysport has grown significantly and there are a number of recent achievements that attest to this fact. Vancouver's own Patrick Richard has become the first North American to compete in the World Rally Championship on behalf of Subaru Canada. Chad Manley, from North Vancouver, is the youngest competitor to obtain his competition licence. Finally, BC has gained recognition to be included as part of the Canadian National Rally Championship with the Pacific Forest Rally to be held on June 14, 2003 in Merritt, BC.
Total Motors Group: a full service automotive shop featuring unique services that cater to production cars, both rally and street; now open to the general public.
