DEARBORN, MICHIGAN -- The newly completed Mazda Portage Rally Car that took Eric Burmeister and Eric Adams to 3rd place in its debut event just over a month ago will be a part of the Ford Racing Centennial Festival at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI. The festival will commemorate 100 years of Ford Racing on October 13th and 14th, 2001.

On display will be over 200 historic Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Mazda racing cars from the last 100 years including "Sweepstakes," Henry Ford's hand-built racer that led to the formation of the Ford Motor Company. Drivers such as Jackie Stewart, Carroll Shelby, Junior Johnson, Ned Jarrett, Parnelli Jones, Bob Glidden, and John Force will be available for Q & A sessions and autographs as well as many others.

The 2001 Mazda Protégé Rally Car is a notable addition to the festival as it shows the recent expansion of the automotive business to include many car companies under one umbrella organization. It is also notable because it shows the recent explosion in popularity that rallying has experienced over the last few years, both in the United States and abroad.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the program," driver and Dearborn Heights resident Eric Burmeister said. "It will be great to see all those legends of motorsports and I am happy to be able to do something here in my own community as well."

One week after the festival, the Burmeister Rallysport team will be heading to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to compete in the Lake Superior ProRally. The team is currently in 3rd place for the SCCA ProRally Championship in Group 2 going into this last race of the season for 2001.
