PHOENIX, Arizona, USA -- AV Sport once again proved to be the leading private rally team in the U.S. at the weekend, with four cars finishing in the top 10.
Tim O’Neil and Alex Gelsomino, in the Air Force Reserve/Ford SVT Focus finished an incredible 2nd overall and now lie second in the Drivers’ Championship point standings.
Shane Mitchell and Paul Donnelly were very unlucky to suffer a puncture on the final stages of the event, but still managed to grab 3rd in Group N and 7th overall after an amazing drive, which included eight top 7 stage times after nine stages.
Jason Rivas and Marc Goldfarb finished 9th overall and 4th in Group N after a trouble free drive, while Patrick Farrell and Bob Kelly took David Higgins 2002 Championship winning car to 6th overall. Craig Peeper drove a solid rally, but was forced to make up time after an unfortunate tire puncture.
STPR is the second event this year where AV Sport have finished 2nd to the factory Mitsubishi car of David Higgins.
