STACY, MINNESOTA -- Mayhem Racing has won the 2001 national ClubRally championship by winning the Production GT class at this past weekend's 100 Acre Wood ClubRally held in Salem, MO. The event went very well for Team Mayhem with one small problem. Co-Driver Jeff Secor was battling a minor case of food poisoning the entire weekend. On the second of eleven stages that were run, the team had to stop twice to allow Jeff some "personal time".
"I have never been sick before at a rally so this came as a bit of a shock" said Secor. "I wasn't prepared for this incident but we now carry zip-lock bags just in case."
Driver, Mark Utecht, said "Jeff did a great job the entire rally". "I know I would not want to continue after getting sick but after that, he did as good a job as ever". "He was reading the road with me while keeping track of the route book and that had a large part in our winning the championship".
Mayhem Racing qualified to enter this championship determining event with consistently high finishes in the 2001 ClubRally series. They also won the 2001 ProRally PGT championship, the 2000 Group 5 ProRally championship and the 1997 G5 national ClubRally Championship.
For the rest of the season, Mayhem Racing will be competing in the highly contested Group N class in their 2002 Subaru WRX.
