As the first round of the Ontario Performance Rally Championship, The Rally Of The Swift Bear proved to be the perfect season opener. The rally, held on a closed access road to the Swift Rapids Dam just North of Orillia, Ontario, saw 18 cars competing at all out speed down one of the tightest twistiest roads around.

Team AR's 1990 Hyundai Excel performed fantastically on what has come to be known as one REALLY tough little rally. Driven by Roger Sanderson, the Hyundai placed second in its class and 6th over all. The 2nd placing gives Team AR the lead in the OPRC Championship as the class winning Honda of Walkington/Oleas wasn't registered for the series.

It was co-driver Andrew Miller's first time for this rally, and he had this to say about the whole experience. "This is one tough rally to call corners on but Roger was great and the car was fantastic." With 178 turns in only 12.39 kilometers, it’s no surprise that Andrew found it tough to call things ahead of time. When you are moving at speed, that's like having to make 4 sharp corners every 20 seconds. The demanding road and the stiff competition wasn't enough to beat the Hyundai and Team Rally AR looks forward to the next Ontario rally, The Rally Of The Voyageur in September.
