Harrisville, NY--Team Artex Motorsport flew over the infamous "yumps" of New York's Black River Stages ClubRally, to finish 4th in Open Class and 9th overall with a total time of 59.55. The team now needs only 96 points in two out-of-division events to win the 1999 SCCA NEDIV ClubRally Open Class Championship. In addition to their fast stage times, Team Artex Motorsport wowed the spectators with some of the most spectacular jumps of the event. Driver Arthur Wojcik received a reprimand from the FAA for flying without a pilot's license and Co-Driver Chuck Cox faced a navigation challenge because the car was airborne so frequently that the odometer became useless. Despite the pounding, the car and occupants survived the event without any major damage.
Arthur summarized, "I'm happy with our performance at BRS. At first I was driving little slower than expected, due to a lack of practice roads around NYC. After five stages we were 13th overall, but in the second part of the rally we moved to 9th. Thanks to our Mitsubishi Galant for handling the rough roads and of course my co-driver Chuck who was on top of all the things that he needed to be. BRS is becoming a premier event in NEDIV and I hope that next year it will become a national event. Big thanks are in order to all the workers that made the event happen."
