Zeeland, Michigan -- The Sierra RallySports ProRally team of Colin McCleery and Jeff Secor head to the forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula for the 31st running of the SCCA's Lake Superior ProRally, often referred to by it's former name; "Press on Regardless". Entered in their Group 5 Ford Sierra, the team is well aware of the ever changing conditions along the Lake Superior shoreline, and is also prepared to run their front wheel drive VW golf GTi if needed.
Tire selection is critical for this event, especially knowing that areas south of Houghton (where the rally runs on Friday night) received 10" of snow just a week ago. "Road conditions can change drastically in just a few short hours" noted Driver Colin McCleery, a twelve-year veteran of this event.
"We have great confidence in our Nokian Hakkapeliitta 1's" added Co-Driver Jeff Secor, It is a perfect tire for heavy snow SIERRA RALLYSPORTS, Muddy logging roads and even the now famous "Brockway Mountain road" a paved hill climb at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula.
The team has performed several modifications to the Ford Sierra, including a new locked differential, and increased boost to the 2.3-liter turbo-charged motor. The team is also proud to have Doug Veltema along as Crew Chief, Doug is also a veteran of this event, and will do his best to make sure that the car stays on "all- fours".
The Sierra RallySports team is currently locked in a four-way duel for 2nd place in the ultra-competitive Central Division of the SCCA for Group 5 honors. Speedvision will televise this event on Monday, November 11 at 8:30pm EST.
