Tigard, OREGON -- The Subaru Impreza USX of Primitive Racing performed flawlessly at the Ojibwe Forest Rally 3 weeks ago in Bemidji, Minnesota. The team put consistent top 10 stage times on the scoreboard and finished 8th overall. "We were very pleased with the performance of our new transmission, and it has given us the confidence to finish in the top five again," says Primitive Chief Paul Eklund. "We eased up a bit on the final stages which may have cost us a few positions--but we finished!"

The team has now prepared the Subaru for the heavy gravel challenges posed by the Wild West Rally. "This rally combines many rally elements, with roads that vary from tight and twisty, to smooth and fast, to rocky ledges and bridge crossings," chimes in co-driver Scott Huhn. "We have perfomed well at this rally (3rd overall in 1999 and 5th overall in 2000) and I hope we can achieve another podium finish for the team." The team starts 10th on the road.

The Wild West Rally begins Friday evening in Shelton, Washington. Speedvision coverage will be televised in late September, and rally updates should appear on:
