Waterloo, Ontario -- The Two AM Team returned home from Calgary yesterday bringing home their second straight 1st place trophy. The team took Top honours in the Production 3 class at this past weekend's Rocky Mountain Rally.
The rally, which took place high in the hills south of Calgary, proved quite a challenge for organizers and teams alike. Thirty centimetres of snow had blanketed the route just 3 days before the start. This left the organisers with the difficult task of making the roads passable and the competitors the difficult task of racing through the muck and the slush.
"Conditions were all over the board today," said team driver Andrew Miller "we saw everything from deep snow drifts to muddy ruts to dust later in the day." The team took a conservative approach deciding to take it easy early in the day and stay on the road. Miller continues " We took it a 6/10ths for the first bit figuring the conditions would catch some of the competition out, and it worked several competitors had problems with the slippery roads and lost time." The plan paid off for the team placing their 2WD 120 Hp VW Golf a respectable 11th over all in a field of cars that was full of all wheel drive turbocharged cars.
Two straight wins means the team now sits at the top of the points in the Canadian championship. The next national rally for the team will be RALLYE BAIE DES CHALEURS in New Richmond Québec July 5-7th.
The Subaru Canadian Rally Championship, which consists of 9 events, runs from February to November. Two AM Rallysport competes in the P3 class with help from its sponsors Volkswagen Waterloo, Dave's Tire Discounter, Frisco Auto Parts, Vibrant Performance and AM Innovations Inc.
