Chapel Hill, North Carolina -- Team Havspeed (Andrew Havas driving and Eric Tremblay as co-pilote) confirms their presence at the Rally International Charlevoix 2000. Their participation at this event follows a last minute reversal of their respective work activities.
Andrew had to rebuild the engine of his Mazda RX7 as it had returned from the Maine Forest Rally damaged. Unfortunately, Andrew's engagements at Velocity Motor Sport as technical advisor and head mechanic did not allow him to have the time required to repair the motor.
Last Saturday, Velocity Motor Sport agreed to lend an engine to Andrew, enabling him to make the rally. All he had to do was swap the motor out of the Formula Mazda racecar and into the RX7 rally car! With this intention, Andrew worked Sunday night and Monday to install the engine in the RX7. Installation of the engine went late into the night Monday (2 am). Following car preparation was the trip from North Carolina to Quebec City, a 1000 mile, 20 hour 'adventure' of endurance.
Andrew comments: "I did not want to miss the Rally of Charlevoix this year. My fantastic performances of the last year (6th place overall, with 3rd behind Sprongl and Buffum in 2 stages), with superb roads like the PAX, and the thousands of spectators, left me with a formidable memory of the event. Although I have had to invest a lot of work to attend this event, it's worth it. It's the rally of Charlevoix!"
Due to all of Andrew's work, Team Havspeed will be able to do the reconnaissance on Wednesday and Thursday. Who is to say that Rally is not an adventure?
Team Havspeed is sponsored by Orange Auto Electric, Jemco.com, and receives additional support from Mazda Corporation, PIAA lighting, Earl's Indy, and Panasport racing wheels.
