LDR set for the Challenge Sur Glace!

Bangor, Maine, USA -- Maine based performance rally team Last Ditch Racing will travel to Sherbrooke, Quebec for the 7th edition of the Challenge Automobile Sur Glace February 25-27, 2005. The Challenge is the 7th, and only round outside Europe of the famous Andros Trophy, a series held entirely on ice surfaces.

Driver John Cassidy and Co-Driver Dave Getchell are ready for a new challenge. "Although we live in what most would consider a cold climate, we race very few times on snow or ice. Dave and I are excited to see what it's like to race on ice using studded street tires. Whatever happens, it's sure to be interesting!"

The team is being supported for this event by Subaru Estrie and Vizionperformance.com. Said Cassidy, "We're extremely pleased to be partnering with these notable local businesses and will put on a show on their behalf." Subaru Estrie is a full featured dealership carrying the entire Subaru product line. Vizion Performance offers Subaru performance parts and tuning services for those wanting a bit more from their Subaru.

2005 marks the first year that Rally cars will be added as a support class to the Andros Trophy cars and motorcycle classes. Top drivers from both the US and Canada will be present to test their skills on the ultimate low-grip surface.

The LDR team recently finished the Rallye Perce Neige in Maniwaki Quebec, finishing seventh overall and second in the Ontario Provincial Rally Championship portion of the event.

Run on the 1.5km. Bertrand-Fabi circuit with a base of 3 feet of ice, the Challenge Sur Glace expects to draw up to 50,000 spectators over the three day event.

France's ice-racing series stages its grande finale at the Stade de France in paris on a vast oval circuit. A glamorous and spectacular event, the Andros Trophy has been running since 1990. Attracting big name drivers and manufacturers, it consists of seven races in mountain resorts, with a grand finale pitting the leaders against each other. Recent notable drivers in the Andros series include past multiple F1 champion Alain Prost and British Touring Car Championship Champion and LeMans competitor Yvan Muller.

Last Ditch Racing would like extend thanks to their 2005 partners:
